Contemporary and traditional
The oldest restaurant in the city –since 1849 in the heart of the city of Udine– offers its increasingly demanding and cosmopolitan customers a cuisine of the highest level, mainly oriented to fish dishes.
The restaurant is glamorous and hospitable, in perfect harmony with its philosophy. Its style and spaces are made unforgettable by a recent renovation that brought to light previously hidden historical details and enriched it with new notes of contemporaneity and tradition.
The restaurant Vitello d’Oro is an example of a world of contrasts, just as the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region is. It is also a place to discover in all seasons: in winter when the warmth of the fireplace embraces you, and in summer when you can relax in the cool and refined external spaces, a very rare jewel in the city centre.
A family story
Since 1987, the Sabinot family has been welcoming guests to the marvellous courtyard in the city centre; however, the bond with the restaurant began in 1964 when Antonio Sabinot started to work as a waiter in what was known as “The fish restaurant in Udine” and that would become his Vitello d’Oro together with his wife Gigliola.
In 1991, his sons Massimiliano and Gianluca inherit the legacy (one as a chef, the other as a maître), but always respecting the characteristics of the place, time and history.
